About Me & My Website Expertise

My name is Maurice Zambrana and I’m a 21-year-old who’s located in Poole, which is where I grew up. I’m a professional website designer/developer with almost 5 years of experience, which includes my college course, freelance work and passion projects. Currently, I’m looking for work - whether that’s a local position in Poole or a remote job elsewhere in the country.

I mainly specialise in website UI/UX design and front-end development - though I’m flexible for any type of website work, including: back-end/full-stack development and website management/maintenance. With my passion, experience, technical skillset and personal characteristics, I have no doubt that I’m a valuable asset for your team. I’d love to work on your website.

My Experience With Website Work

My first experience with website-related work was for my IT college course back in 2021, where website development was one of the units. For the unit, we had to fully design and develop multiple different websites, including: a site to advertise a recently launched course at the college, and a site for the Merley Community Center in Dorset. This was when I started to really enhance my skillset when it came to both designing and developing websites.

Once I completed my college course back in 2023, I began to work as a website designer and developer freelancer on certain popular online platforms. In 2025, I launched my own website to start creating sites for businesses in the local area. Whilst I haven’t had too many clients just yet, I’ve still developed a unique range of sites for multiple different businesses, including: personal portfolios, service websites and even an advanced E-Commerce store.

From 2021-2023, I fully designed, developed and independently managed an online gaming website, which was my first significant website project. Sadly, this website is no longer online.

My Website Design Philosophy

When designing websites, I take a UX-heavy approach - meaning I prioritise making the site easy for anyone to use, regardless of their technical expertise. Not only does this make the site more user-friendly, there’s also strong evidence to show that it increases its conversion rate. To achieve this, I implement features such as effective headings, speed optimisation and carefully constructed layouts. Many other designers neglect the importance of website usability.

In the images provided, you can see a website I made for a local content writing agency. Not only is this site very easy for anyone to use (due to the simple layouts and effective headings), I’ve also added some style to it with the lined paper background and handwritten fonts, both matching the purpose and theme of the website. I’m proud of this site, as it’s a perfect example of making a website unique without sacrificing its usability and losing potential customers.

Unlike some other designers, I never use any templates when designing my websites. I create unique wireframes, mockups and prototypes for each one I make using tools such as Figma.

My Website Development Method

Generally, I create Wordpress websites as it's the CMS I have the most experience with and it provides many plugins that I frequently use such as WooCommerce and Elementor. Unlike other developers, I create a custom-coded theme for each website I develop, as opposed to lazily using a pre-built one from an online marketplace. Not only are many pre-built themes horribly optimised for speed and SEO, they most likely won’t fit the intended purpose of the website.

In the images provided, you can see an advanced E-Commerce website I made for a local business which is managed with Wordpress and WooCommerce. Most of this site is completely custom-coded, which is very helpful for its speed and performance. Besides WooCommerce, the only plugins I used were for the checkout and contact forms. Furthermore, I implemented many features and practices to ensure this website is optimised for SEO and security.

Visually, this website looks different from my general design style, due to some very specific requirements from the client. However, it still looks clean, professional and has an effective UX.
